CM Punk

All Elite Wrestling has been in the news a lot lately. The promotion recently announced that they will be broadcasting their first pay-per-view on TBS, AEW Double or Nothing 2022, and then they will be hosting a World Cup contest at Dynamite 2022.

In the wake of CM Punk’s departure from AEW, there is speculation that he could be making a comeback to WWE. However, there are plenty of people in the wrestling industry who do not think he should return.

During his time in WWE, CM Punk worked with a wide variety of companies and businesses. He was one of the company’s most successful stars.

Bodhi Hayward

This week, former NXT superstar Bodhi Hayward made the leap to AEW. It was a big jump for the 28 year old who has already seen his fair share of wrestling action. Previously, Bodhi was an active member of Andre Chase’s Chase U. He was one of the first ever scholarship recipients at the prestigious institution.

However, it wasn’t all fun and games. When he was cut from the fold, it took Bodhi a while to get his bearings. After a stint on the independent scene, he signed a contract with WWE in March of 2022.

EJ Nduka

A former professional football player, EJ Nduka has had an interesting career in both wrestling and sports. He was a college football star and played a few years in the NFL. His athletic accomplishments include being a National Championship runner-up in the 2012 NCAA Division I Football Championships. In addition, he is an IFBB pro bodybuilder, having competed in the IFBB Pro Championships.

It was not long after EJ Nduka became an NFL draftee that he was noticed by the WWE. This included his appearance in the company’s developmental program, NXT.

TIAA Bank Field stadium to be used for the main event

All Elite Wrestling‘s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event took place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the second annual event for the promotion. The show was held on Saturday, May 23. It was also the first time that an AEW event had taken place at a stadium.

Despite announcing that the show was going to take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena, the company changed its plans and moved the event to TIAA Bank Field. This was a $90 million renovation, which included a new flex field and covered 50-yard line patios.

AEW’s TV carriage rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT and TBS

All Elite Wrestling has enjoyed strong ratings and a robust television presence. However, with their current TV deal coming to an end in 2023, the promotion is concerned about whether or not they will get a new deal. This uncertainty has led to anxiety among AEW fans.

During the recent Sports Media Podcast, AEW president Tony Khan stated that executives from Warner Bros. Discovery will be attending an AEW Dynamite show in Los Angeles next week. Whether or not these newfound relationships mean that the promotion’s future will be better than it is currently, remains to be seen.

Double or Nothing

In All Elite Wrestling‘s first year, they hosted the “Double or Nothing” event in Las Vegas on May 29. The event featured some great matches, and the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. It also featured a special appearance from the widow of Owen Hart, Dr. Martha Hart.

The main event was a CM Punk vs. Adam Page title match, which ended with a win for CM Punk. At the end of the night, he won the AEW World Title.

Another major highlight of the night was the AEW Women’s Title Match, where Serena Deeb took on Thunder Rosa. The winner would take on the defending champion.

COVID-19 pandemic affects AEW

All Elite Wrestling, a wrestling promotion owned by Shahid Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to reports, multiple wrestlers have been affected by the epidemic in the last two weeks.

The outbreak was a major blow to AEW, which was in the midst of a one year anniversary celebration. A large number of wrestlers were kept off the show last week and several matches were cancelled. However, the company has since moved forward, canceling its live shows and relocating its events.

While All Elite Wrestling may have been the first to suffer from the epidemic, WWE and Ring of Honor have also had to deal with the issue. Even independent promotions are affected.
